No matter how you and your family spend time in and around KV, you won’t ever hear the words, “I’m bored.”

Snowshoeing or ATVing in the vast Ponderosa forests— the perfect backdrop for your winter outdoor excursion.

Lazy summer days of gently gliding in a kayak or reading on your deck? Check. Heart-pounding fun as you wake surf with the kids and realize you feel like a kid yourself? Double check.

Summer, fall, winter, spring – you’ll find plenty to keep your family active in each season.

Skiing & boarding

Head to nearby Fernie or Kimberley for world-class downhill ski conditions. Or choose the path less travelled when you cross-country ski and tour to backcountry lodges.

Pack your mittens along with your inner child. There’s nothing like a good old-fashioned toboggan run to get your heart pumping in more ways than one.

Miss your mountain bike in the winter? Enter the fat bike for year-round riding.

Just like walking, only better. You’ll get a great workout as you cut your own trail and discover new favourite destinations in the surrounding public lands.

Choose rifle or bow, and then select whether you’re after elk, deer or wild turkey.

ATVing & snowmobiling

There are so many reasons why the Kootenays are considered one of the top recreation destinations with ATVing or sledding. Leaving right rom your doorstep is one of those reasons. ATV and sled access on public land is yours to enjoy with many established routes for your immediate enjoyment.

The wind in your hair and long, sun-soaked days are yours as you boat the length of Lake Koocanusa. Don’t forget to pack a picnic – chances are, you won’t want to return until dusk.

In Lake Koocanusa drop a line for Gerrard Rainbow, Kokanee Salmon, and Bull Trout. Or head to rivers and smaller lakes nearby for Rainbow Trout and Eastern Brook Trout.

Swimming & Paddling

The warm, turquoise water beckons avid swimmers. Or explore the lake in your canoe or kayak as you discover cliffs, inlets and sandy beaches.

Wake Surf

Find your centre, find the wave and keep pace with the boat, no rope required.

Dirt bikes & quads

Hit the backcountry and challenge your agility as you throttle your way through rugged terrain.

Hiking & mountain biking

Plunge deep into valleys or ascend mountain terrain to find great views. Choose your own adventure as you cover hundreds of kilometres of natural trails on foot or pedaling your mountain bike.

Just south of KV on the lake is an aquatic playground at Sunshine Waterpark. It’s a great way to enjoy the water and sunshine. You can bet the kids (and maybe even you) will want to spend all day here!

Fly fishing

In a class by itself, fly fishing is like meditating in hip waders. Perfect your cast as you enjoy some of Canada’s premium fly fishing in the numerous lakes and rivers within minutes of Koocanusa Village.
