This Canada Day, Koocanusa Village came alive with community spirit, sunshine, and a whole lot of summer fun as residents and guests gathered to celebrate not only our country but the grand opening of our newest community gem—Marina Park Playground.
Nestled beside the Kove Store, this beautiful new playground is already a hit with the youngest members of the village. It was made possible thanks to the tireless efforts of Rachel and Darryl Binion, who led the charge on both the fundraising and build coordination. Their dedication and love for this community made this dream a reality, and we extend our deepest thanks to them—as well as the many generous donors and sponsors who supported the project. This playground will serve generations of Koocanusa kids and will no doubt become a daily stop for families heading down to the Kove.
Adding even more excitement to the day, the team at SWS Marine Group came out in full force, bringing along their top-of-the-line wakesurf boats and pontoons. Residents had the chance to test the waters, try wakesurfing, and cruise the turquoise lake—all while checking out the latest in luxury boating. SWS also sponsored the groovy DJ from Just Music, who kept the energy high all afternoon, and talented photographer Nick Nault, who was on hand to capture the spirit of the day.
A huge thank you also goes to the Koocanusa Village Community Association (KVCA) for organizing the day’s events, including a delicious potluck spread, complete with summer classics and homemade treats. Kids enjoyed face painting, a bouncy castle, and plenty of fun activities throughout the day—while parents soaked up the laid-back vibes and stunning lakeside views.
Canada Day 2025 was everything we love about Koocanusa Village: great people, unbeatable scenery, and a shared sense of community that keeps getting stronger. Thank you to everyone who contributed, attended, and celebrated with us. Here’s to many more joyful gatherings at the lake!
